Ext4 v1 was created long ago,
1993 if im Not mistaken.
somewhere around
K/Ubuntu 17
Ext4 was upgradeded to 64-Bit headers, Magic Numbers, etc...
Basically Ext4v2 should been called Ext5, but was called Ext4
The reason:
for example:
when using,
Ext2Fsd v0.69 .exe
was a very popular Ext4 RW FileSystem Manager / Driver / Mounter for Windows...
worked near flawless,
slower than Paragon paid driver, but worked.
Developer Abandoned the Project,
and Linux changed Ext4v1 to v2, without change the name,
when format an SSD / HDD with Ext4v2 like Kubuntu 20.10 Groovy Gorilla,
and try to open with Ext2Fsd v0.69 on Windows,
the ssd/hdd becomes corrupt / damaged,
cannot be read again in Groovy,
only can be read on Ext2Fsd v0.69,
because overwrites the Headers to 32-Bit,
i dont remember how i fix that, but was Not easy.
what im trying to ask:
fuse-ext2 driver is v1 or v2? 32-Bit or 64-Bit Ext4?
i guess its v1 32-Bit because is READ Only.
anyway... Ext4v2 is Bad for large mechanical 18TB HDD.
makes weird Noises, Non-stop, and will damage the drive if continues.
but is required to read Linux in OSX,
without using the nasty ExFAT.
