I had a customized widget saved under a specific name, and today I accidentally removed the widget from my home screen. Now when I add the widget back, it gives the default settings and I can't figure out a way to select the widget that I saved, which is listed in the app.

When I had similar problem, I started with renaming all existing widgets one-by-one.
For each widget on a launcher's screens:
You see the widget, so you know it's purpose, placement, etc.
Click "three dots" on the widget to see its own settings, go to "Other settings" -> "Widget name" and give the widget a meaningful and distinguishable name.
Now when you open "Todo Agenda app" from the Launcher's list of apps, you see the list of your custom names. And now it's easy to see the newly added widget...
