PyMechanical not able to initiate remote session

Hello, Does Ansys Student License not work with Pymechanical? When trying to initiate a remote session, below file C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\v251\aisol\bin\winx64\AnsysWBU.exe does not generate a mechanical session in the background.

Is it at all possible to make this work on student license?

Hi @Tofuu88, This seems a generic error and does not have anything to do with License. Could you please try below things get more deeper understanding of this issue.

1. You can disable batch mode by launch_mechanical(batch=False) to check if Mechanical is launching correctly or not. This will launch a standalone Mechanical GUI.
2. Add logging option by setting log level launch_mechanical(batch=False, log_level="INFO")
3. If you follow case 1 and Mechanical is launching correctly but still seeing the error then you can increase the time out for client to connect to Mechanical. The default time out is 120 seconds , means if Mechanical is not fully launched withing 120 seconds the client will throw error that Unable to connect, you can do that by launch_mechanical(batch=False, log_level="INFO", start_timeout=300.0)
4. Can you try passing the ip or host name of your system with ip argument of launch_mechanical and check ?

Hi @dipinknair I've tried all of the additional parameter you mentioned above and set the start_timeout to 3000s and it's still going at 10 miinutes mark. I actually feel like mechanical simply will not open without workbench in my situation with student license. i can go to start menu and search the Ansys 2025R1 folder and then open mechanical from there and it also won't open.

Does this offer any clue on what's happening?

I was able to get the 24R2 student version to work. somehow my 25R1 installation is busted... I guess this is fine for now... maybe I need to reinstall?
