Get access to Reef Check’s database and determine if we could easily add an API or if we need Reef Check to send quarterly updates (or whatever timeframe we decide).
Eric is waiting to get access to Reef Check’s database. Once Eric gets access, we have to make a decision whether we want to create an API from their database to stream data into Aqualink or have Reef Check send us quarterly updates. Please note that Reef Check does not have a programmer or anyone with the skill set to create an API. Therefore, we have to create the API. I don’t know how much it would take to create an API, so please let Pete and Caesar know how much time you estimate that it can take.
There are several benefits to an API. For example, real-time data has no storage in our database, and it also opens up new opportunities in the future. For example, if a Reef Check user uploads data to Reef Check, maybe Reef Check can add an option on their website for the Reef Check user to start managing the Aqualink site and upload images, etc. It would be ideal if the data were instantly on Aqualink as well as the dashboard being created instantly instead of 3 months away.
Please have a look at the Reef Check Report to understand how this project will be built. If you have any questions, please email Caesar at [email protected].
