So I'll try to articulate the events as best I can.
Version 3.0.3 on up to date Win 11 laptop. USB Modbus connection. Wireless Internet connection via Starlink, meaning short duration loss of Internet connectivity is possible but Wi-Fi was stable. Linked to Artisan Plus.
I was about to start a roast and was close to loading the hopper when Artisan became unresponsive when I clicked START. I shut gas off and closed other open apps, like Excel and Chrome but Artisan remained unresponsive. I finally closed the app.
After I reopened the app and set up the roast again I realized that for some reason Artisan was showing my batch weight in grams as red, indicating I apparently had a mis-match from my inventory in Artisan+. I quickly looked and saw Artisan+ was showing 3.3lbs, as I had it set to pounds. My roast was 1513g, so just over 3.3. I didn't think too much about that and figured I'd just go back later and zero out my stock anyway for this bean as it was the end of my inventory. I only mention this aspect of the roast because I don't have an explanation for what happened next.
I hit start on the roast and was ramping up to my charge temp. I charged the roaster, hit my timer on the roaster and then looked at Artisan only to see that there was no annotation for charge! I had temperatures and I had a BT and ET curve but no RoR of course. I tried to select CHARGE but all those buttons were greyed and unable to to used. Without a charge I had no way to mark anything else.
I had to resort to roasting by temp/time and hope for the best. I was able to subsequently edit this roast using the roast properties. One I added the charge time to the events I was able to manually enter times for dry end and first crack as I had jotted those down during the roast. I did have to manually adjust all the times for gas and air changes as they were logged but based off of the start of ramp versus the now entered charge time.
This is the second time I've had this release become unresponsive during use. The previous time I did lose my internet just previous to it becoming unresponsive. I had to force close the app and after resetting my router and restarting Artisan I had no issues. This time I don't know if there was possible an interruption to the Internet as my router was still providing wireless and after getting the app to close I had Internet connectivity.
I don't know if the glitchy roast was due to the mismatch of inventory or it was some residual issue after force closing the app while unresponsive and then reopening it. After the glitched roast I simply closed the app again and made sure that I was getting a normal looking set of buttons before starting another roast.
