Feature request: independnt range scan

At this time, you must find and select the relevant sections first and then write the range you want to scan within those sections.
It would be great if this could be improved to allow an independent range scan.
Or maybe make the selected range auto check the relevant sections. I know there are many scenarios to think about here, but I'm sure you can come up with a good implementation.
