A student of mine brought this issue up. On her system, if she switched to the screen mode "Preview to Page" (is that what it's called in English? In German it's just labeled "Vorschau") and then runs a basil script, it switches back to "Preview Off" (German "Normal").
As I was demoing something to the class, I could check and it did not happen at my system.
Now I am here at my private Mac and it shows the same behavior as the student's computer.
I am running CS6 here, will check next week, if the student maybe has the same system.
The reason why it would be of advantage to stay in Screen Mode "Preview to Page" is, that InDesign runs much faster if there are many objects on the page, so also script execution will be faster.
Makes me think, if we should always just force InDesign into "Preview to Page" mode. Maybe this could be implemented with the proposed fullscreen option ( #84 ), so that people can also optionally set their screen mode.
