Overview

Here is a link to my SharePoint Homepage. Continually work on making it better.

Strategic planning and status dashboard

Strategic planning and My Status Dashboard are important components of my homepage, but my homepage is bigger than just my status dashboard. Additionally, I may not always use SharePoint for my status dashboard. Therefore, I'm creating a separate task specifically for my status dashboard (#33).

Potential improvements to make to my homepage

  • Is SharePoint even the best tool? Should I use Teams? Should I use a combination of SharePoint and Teams?
  • My Status Dashboard (My Status Dashboard #33). For now, I'm using SharePoint for this. I need a productivity process and dashboard. I think that should be the main point of the homepage, whether it's on SharePoint or in Teams. Give me instructions for managing my goals and my day. I have other ways of getting links.
  • Make SOPs more visible. I think the SOPs should be one of the most important and useful parts of the homepage. Make them obvious, make them easy to find, and make them easy to use.
    • What technology to use
    • Dropbox, OneDrive, and SharePoint document libraries
  • Improve the quick links section. It currently links to things that already have built-in links (e.g., Planner using the "dice" menu) or things that already have Google Chrome bookmarks (e.g., Gmail). This begs the question, am I really using links effectively? Also, these links generally don't work from within the SharePoint app on iPhone. Having said that, I will generally just open the app I want to use on iPhone (e.g., Planner) instead of trying to access it from within the SharePoint app.
  • Master people list (directory). Actually, get a small working example going first. Maybe use Power Apps? Try to make the simplest thing work first.
