Buf is failing with empty digest or unknown digest prefix: b3 errors.

I noticed that a lot of buf commands are now failing all of a sudden, including but not limited to:

$ buf generate
$ buf mod update
$ buf lint

They fail with some errors like empty digest or unknown digest prefix: b3.

I didn't change anything, what is going on?

TL;DR: Upgrade buf past v1.0.0 and it should work. Please report back if it doesn't.

As we iterate and improve on the Buf ecosystem, we migrated our server-side digest handling. Buf is committed to maintain backwards compatibility within a major version, but unfortunately this presented a breaking change for pre-release versions.
