During modelling you mean? I feel like since modelling is a thing you do upfront once, it's not too bad to just do the primary stretch and then manually do a secondary stretch in the other axes. Its main use in armature transformations is to do squash-and-stretch when animating, so it's mostly only useful when you're also dealing with time.
