# Autostart

Desktop files in `/etc/xdg/autostart` and `~/.config/autostart` will start automatically at each boot.

# Keyboard

The mutter "overlay-key" setting triggers an action that happens when you press and release the Meta (Super) key. Mutter itself doesn't know what that action will be--on my system, it appears `pop-shell` is responsible for opening the Launcher or other action.

$ gsettings get org.gnome.mutter overlay-key

To disable it:

$ gsettings set org.gnome.mutter overlay-key ''


# Get/restore all Gnome settings

dconf dump / >mysettings.conf    # save "changed" settings
dconf reset -f /                 # reset all settings to default values
dconf load  / < mysetting.conf   # restore "changed" settings
```

# Remount an HFS+ USB drive as read-write

# Compiling the Kernel

$ mkdir ~/kernel; cd ~/kernel
$ git clone --depth 1 git@github.com:pop-os/linux.git
$ cd linux
$ cp /boot/config-`uname -r` .config
[Edit "CONFIG_LOCALVERSION" in .config to something like "mine"]
$ make olddefconfig
