Feature Suggestion: installing plugins as flatpak apps via Extensions #973

The idea is to provide extensions as flatpak packages, using Extensions. This way, the flatpak users won't have to go into the flatpak app directory to add a plugin/script. I know there is a way to add a file via GUI. But let's take TheCactusVert/mpv-sponsorblock as an example. The installation instructions tell the user to compile a binary and put it into the plugin folder. Wouldn't it be much more convenient if plugins could be packaged as a flatpak app as well?

You will not even need to maintain the plugins yourself, just define the way extensions can be added in the flatpak manifest, others can make flatpak-able plugins by themselves.

And as for me, it is intriguing to learn and set up this for at least one plugin myself, so there's some personal interest as well.

By the way, as an example, GIMP has plugin support this way.
