Number of stages is not intrinsic to the story state

The story state doesn't, on its own, store the number of stages. Right now, this value has to be hard coded. This is also true for the free-response and multiple-choice questions. The issue with the questions can be gotten around by using the new question database, but if that no longer is 1-1 with the story, then when a class begins, there isn't any real information on how much more there is to go.
