Twig syntax highlighting help?

I'm aware of the open request re. nested highlighting and Twig but any form of Twig highlighting would really help me ATM. I'm very willing to try and put something together myself but I haven't much of a clue. Has anyone attempted this and could share - or could anyone point me in the right direction please?

FWIW I've tried adding a new format (Twig) and, under Keywords, added a few begin strings and end strings -- but that just highlights everything between these strings. I'm not sure where to go next - any help appreciated. Thx.
