Using the split block was a hassle, and many students ended up just mainly creating the list of reduced and centered numbers for the GPS portion of the lab. (I realize this is a Snap! bug, but perhaps we could just give the students a preloaded list to play with?)
Almost none of my students made it to the Spam Vs. Ham section. This tells me that the GPS part needs to be simpler/faster to do. A ready-to-go framework with all the lists they need already loaded in would be nice. Either that, or a very, excruciatingly detailed explanation of how to properly import the GPS coordinates into Snap!
I had two students ask me why do we need to center the points before we plot them
Also a number of students who were confused as to how to implement Fraction of (points) within (distance) of (clusters). I ended up drawing them a picture and that helped them a lot.
If you have any suggestions for improving last week's data lab, please leave them below. Thanks!
