Currently, when a quiz location is selected, the audio recordings are limited to those from the same country, but otherwise no attempt is made to prefer recordings that are from geographically close locations. However, the xeno-canto API does support queries by geographical coordinates, so it looks like there is no technical reason why we can't do this.
