It seems signal.org now officially supports Windows on arm64. Is there a way to migrate from Signal Desktop Unofficial keeping the database?

Thanks for raising this issue. Yes, it's possible to migrate to the official version while keeping the database.

Here's the steps:

  1. Download and install Signal from the official website.
  2. Make sure that both Signal and Signal Unofficial are closed (check in the task tray as it runs there by default!)
  3. Open Windows Explorer and go to %AppData%. This will bring you to the AppData\Roaming folder in your user profile.
  4. You'll find two folders there: Signal and Signal Unofficial.
  5. Rename Signal to Signal.bup
  6. Copy Signal Unofficial and rename it to Signal
  7. You should be able to start the official Signal client now and all your chats should be visible.

Yes, thank you very much @dennisameling!

Unfortunately the official arm64 support will not be available for Debian-based distros. Is there any chance to convince you, @dennisameling, to continue to provide the .deb-packages? ;-)

@doxioxi I'll continue providing the arm64 .deb builds for the time being, if they remain low on maintenance. If anything changes there, I'll definitely inform folks proactively about it.
