I was under the impression that the metadata is taken from the Dockerfile and GitHub's git reference (tags etc).
However, if I understand correctly the metadata is taken from the latest the container in the specified container repository. Is this correct?
If so, that would explain why the changes of labels, e.g. OCI description, does show up under GitHub's package (about) until the next version. Are there any plans to allow metadata to be taken from the actual Dockerfile in the repository?
