Is your question not already answered in the FAQ?

  • I made sure the question is not listed in the FAQ.

Is this a general question and not a technical issue?

  • I am sure my question is not about a technical issue.

Question

I read #22 and understand your doing a bunch of things to Passthrough a GPU, before I get too invested, I want to know if you can share GPU access like how linux operating systems in containers seem to be able to access. I can do that with a docker container running ubuntu where after some configurations, it can access all the GPUS without having to take them away from the rest of the server (so still usable by other docker images without restart)

If I understand this, Windows is technically not running in a container. You are essentially giving the container access to the KVM layer. In that case, you can't share the host GPU with the VM. You would have to isolate the GPU before passing it through the VM. Correct me if I am wrong though. I've been looking for a solution to run a "cloud gaming" container on the Host GPU.

I think it can be done when this ( virtio-win/kvm-guest-drivers-windows#943 ) driver is finished. But until that time its not possible.

I'll have to keep an eye on that would be clutch af and be easier to setup as a remote desktop/cloud gaming VM
