Bundled Products #1197

Hey @Web10-Joris, Following this. I think it would be a great addition to Simple Commerce. Especially when there are many products. Is this step necessary?: "We could make it like normal products, but then adding a field to specify this is a bundled product" Or is it enough to create a bundle and add products (and a bundle discount) to it? Products can then remain normal products. Maybe I am missing something obvious here :-) |

Apologies for the very late reply on this one... I've been heads down on the next version so I haven't got to this until now 😬 First things first, I don't think product bundles are something I'll be building into the core Simple Commerce addon anytime soon. However, you're more than welcome to create an addon for it. I know a few people have asked for it in the past. Assuming you want a single line item in your cart, you can just make the bundle a "normal" product, then hook into the I don't know if that answers your question? 😆 |

Hi Duncan,
I've been exploring Simple Commerce for a while now and had an idea about bundled products that I'd love to get your (or others) thoughts on. The idea is to package multiple products together as a single item for sale. We could make it like normal products, but then adding a field to specify this is a bundled product. With a grid field you can add integer + product entry to attach products to it.
The key aspects I'm considering:
Creating bundles that combine multiple products, with the flexibility to include duplicate items (e.g., 2x Product A + 3x Product B = 5 total items)
Inventory management where the bundle's available stock automatically reflects the maximum possible combinations from individual product stock levels OR an option that the bundle is always for sale, no matter the stock levels of the individual products.
Custom bundle pricing that overrides the sum of individual product prices OR an option keep the original prices of each product combined.
Since you're more familiar with Simple Commerce's architecture (especially the new upcoming version), what approach would you recommend for implementing this? Is this even doable or maybe too complicated for SC?
Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
