How to clone a Manifold in JS ?

In the doc, manifold.asOriginal() makes mention of the possibility of copying, but I'm not finding a way of cloning a Manifold object in JS.

I'm not sure if I missed something, sorry for the noise in that case !

Hmm, reading again the description of asOriginal, it seems that this is in fact the method to call in order to duplicate the Manifold, and it seem another way is to call new Manifold(manifold.getMesh()) which look less performant. Am I right ?

Everything is immutable, you don't need to explicitly clone it.

For what purpose? You can already do const a = b + b.Translate([1, 1, 1]); which is duplicating b and operating on both copies without affecting the original. Is there something you're having trouble doing?

Ah good idea, I guess it will work with const cloned = manifold.translate([0, 0, 0]) then.

My use case it to "split" a manifold into two without calling decompose (because there is already some other compositions). The split method is not what I need because the resulting manifold in index 1 is just a subtraction of the cutter. So I need to first "duplicate" a manifold, and call trimByPlane on both of them, with opposing plane normals.

Can you show an image of the operation you're trying to do? I'd like to understand your use case. I'd bet there's a more idiomatic way.

So we have 2 solids:

We compose them (not adding because we want to keep information about the edges):

Then we split:

This is where we needed to duplicate the manifold, and apply a trimByPlane on each of them. manifold.scale(1) did the trick.

After that we can do what we want on any of the resulting parts:
