Link Type drop down is cleared upon removal of text in search field

I noticed that there seems to be some cough "clever" trigger on an input box in the work item link creation.

Steps to reproduce

Step 1

Open any work item and go to the links section. Select a link type and then a work item:

Step 2

Then highlight the work item title in the input box and remove it.

Actual result

Notice the link type input box is also reset.

Expected behavior

Only the work item title input box is cleared and the link type remains intact.
