It would be possible to add an attribute to all generated paragraphs, or we add an additional "span" for each snippet where we actually start with <span class="RWSnippet" uuid="RWuuid"> so that we have the uuid of each snippet stored within the journal entry text itself.

If the user edits the text manually, then the uuid is probably going to get removed.

Would need to record on the TOPIC which snippets have already been imported, since the user might have deleted whole paragraphs since an earlier import.
