To add some aesthetic appeal, it would be nice to automate the animation of graph transitions. A proof of concept is available here:

but I cannot seem to reproduce this behavior in RStudio's viewer. Maybe the r2d3 package would help, but not sure.

The prototype in jsfiddle relies on this package:
