Not parsing the returned data?

Using ver 0.3.13 (from fdroid) on an old tablet running IceCreamSandwich. Trying to update the forecast gets a popup saying: Weather update failed: null

This seems to be the same no matter what location I enter (which I do manually since the device does not have GPS hardware).

I tried setting the debug thing, it does fetch a plausible XML with what looks like the right contents so not sure what is going on here.

Edit: Reverting to older version 0.3.10 fixes this, but has issue with using my API key. It does seem to work with the builtin key, though I expect that may fail if there are too many other people making requests with that key at the same time.

I can't try ver 0.3.12 because that needs Lollipop and my device has only IceCreamSandwich. And ver 0.3.11 for some reason is not on Fdroid, and the device has some issue with not being able to browse Github to get it from here.
