My impression from spending three full days on integrating Git v2.48.0-rc2 into Git for Windows is that there were quite big and risky last-minute changes, and we would also be wise to accommodate for the fact that many contributors and testers were on vacation during pretty much the entirety of Git v2.48.0's release candidate cycle. Let's allow a few days for bugs to be reported and fixed before unleashing this to the masses.

To avoid upgrade fatigue, and because I still expect regressions to show up, and because Git v2.48.1 was released in the meantime, I decided not to publish Git for Windows v2.48.0.

I encourage interested parties who want to test and validate v2.48.0 to test the snapshot (it is still building, as of time of writing and will be marked with the date Fri, 17 Jan 2025).

This is now built and ready for testing.
