How to specify GIN index with gin_trgm_ops class in gorm model?

so basically trying to get the following query to be done by specifying it in the model itself

CREATE INDEX trgm_idx on table_name using gin(name gin_trgm_ops);

the following does not work

type User struct {
Name string `gorm:"index:trgm_idx,type:gin" json:"name"`
}

type User struct {
Name string `gorm:"index:trgm_idx,type:gin,option:gin_trgm_ops" json:"name"`
}

both result in

data type text has no default operator class for access method "gin"

anyone knows how i can make this work? or there is no way to get this done and i should resort to using Exec() to run raw SQL?

I successfully did automigrate to GIST index:
The Route is a struct I created:

type Route struct{
   Path           string `gorm:"column:path; type:ltree; index:path_gist_idx, type:gist, option:gist_ltree_ops"`
}
if err = db.AutoMigrate(&Route{}); err != nil {
		panic(err)
	}

The key difference may be 'ltree' here;
