I am thinking about implementing custom actions and am starting this discussion to solicit opinions / feedback.
Here is my plan:
Each format will have up to 3 custom actions available
Custom actions will be default-disabled. They can be enabled by the user.
The action will be specified using a single search - replace pair. This is how many current actions are implemented under the hood right now, so it is pretty flexible while still being constrained and easy to edit in the app itself.
Long pressing a custom action will bring up a dialog to edit it. Fields to edit are:
Icon - specify a single character
Search string
Replace string
Checkbox for replaceFirst vs replaceAll
Custom action settings will not be per file
Short press will run the search-replace on the current line
If this can't be implemented cleanly and with minimal clutter I don't think we should add it at all.
I, personally, want it to implement strikeout for list items i.e. - foo -> - ~~foo~~. It will also be useful for custom heading levels, etc etc.
