explain the unbridge feature in README.md #1164
Comments
Sounds like you figured it out, so that’s good. If you wanted to write up a guide, I’d be glad to stick it somewhere. I’ve been meaning to find some time to write up some FAQ type stuff, I just have never gotten around to it. |
I don't suppose theres a quick and dirty bullet point list of how to do it somewhere while someone is drafting the actual guide? I assumed it would be the same as the unbridged device process used in homebridge-skyq-tvremote (Home App > Add Accessory > Can't Scan > Select Unbridged Device > Use HomeBridge Code), however that doesnt seem to be the case for this as the unbridged cameras from this plugin don't show up in the list of nearby devices the same way that unbridged set-top boxes do in homebridge-skyq-tvremote. |
well but it is that. the cameras showed up for me. did you restart homebridge after saving your config? |
Weird, yea I've both restarted homebridge and the whole VM after setting "unbridge": true, when doing this both cameras disappear from the Home app, but don't show up on the Can't Scan list. |
I have a potential fix incoming for the issue soon. In the meantime, if you are unable to see the camera in unbridge mode go to Config UI and then Homebridge Settings -> Unpair Bridges / Cameras / TVs / External Accessories, then hit the trash can next to the name of your cameras and restart Homebridge. |
Thats sorted it, thanks, didn't even realise that pane existed in the Config UI |

done that. created pull request. #1205 |
Thanks, I’ll take a look at that PR soon. |
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe:
I was digging though the code and the issues here to find out what code the HomeKit App on iOS is asking for to configure the camera manually.
Describe the solution you'd like:
I would love to have a step by step guide (I'd write it though) how to add an unbridged camera to HomeKit
Describe alternatives you've considered:
obvioulsy it is the config code of the homebridge instance, but nonetheless, it is not as straight forward as I thought
Additional context:
iOS 14.6
