The project description is usually written in English. This disqualifies non-English speakers from understanding the context of the project. Moreover, the project manager can't speak every language of a potential mapper.

On the other side, the average mapper can do a good job with the translation. The expected result is that more non-English speakers understand the project context.

Thanks for opening the issue. This is an interesting proposal. We might want to add a review process, so that translations are proposals, which project managers can accept when they are complete.
Direct publication of translations might lead to varying quality in the descriptions.

Sure, but it could be really helpful during a mapathon running in a different timezone than the project manager's place.

which project managers can accept when they are complete

Hard to do as the project manager doesn't need to speak the translated language.

We might want to add a review process

I think that some kind of rollback process or translation enhancement process is more reasonable.
