Improve search strategy #146
Comments
Thanks for the feedback. Since the standard library has a higher searching priority than others, the result from std always shows ahead. Especially for those short keywords, it gets harder to locate the desired result from third-party docs. This search strategy has its drawback, it definitely deserved an improvement. |
As a potential improvement, perhaps the extension could keep track of how frequently you search third-party crates and then rank docs higher for crates you've searched more often, or more recently. This frequency + recency (often called "frecency") ranking is used in a lot of different software, from VS Code's command palette to Slack's quick switcher. IMO it works really well 🚀 |
A charming idea! And thanks for slack's blog, which is helpful. I'll do some research in my spare time and hope to go further. |
It seems some results are missing in default search mode. For example, I have to use
@datafusion
to searchlit
This is my settings.
