Edit PC-axis files #1
Comments
What do you mean by 'edit the contents of PC-axis files'? If you mean manipulating a pandas dataframe and then serializing it back to pcaxis format, this could be in our roadmap, yes. |
Statistics Finland offer the windows program PxEdit for editing PC-axis files. It is quite powerful. There is also a commandline version PX-job See: https://www.stat.fi/tup/tilastotietokannat/px-tuoteperhe_en.html |
Thank you for the advice @janbrus. I think it is of interest for our statistical staff. The development of new features in pyaxis package is discontinued "sine die". |
What exactly does that mean in regards to the state of this package? So there are no plans to further develop it? Is it still maintained? |
Hi Sabine,
This package was mainly developed to assist internal ETL processing at Cantabrian Institute of Statistics (https://www.icane.es). We have no plans to extend the package functionality unless we get some user’s feedback pointing to issues or requesting the addition of useful functions.
We would like to know what’s your use of this package and share with us the improvements you consider.
Best regards.
Alberto Lezcano

Hello @lla11358, thanks a lot for your answer. We as Swiss Data Science Center - Open Research Data are working on tools to parse Statistical Swiss Data which are in the px file format. My coworker Laure @vancauwe will reach out to you shortly in that regard. |
Hello Alberto (@lla11358), As my coworker mentioned, we want to use pyaxis to parse Statistical Swiss Data which are in the px file format. The particularity of the Swiss data, as could be the case in other settings, is that the data is multilingual. At the moment, when parsing the Swiss data with pyaxis, we get the default language (i.e. German). It would be ideal to have an extra argument in the We would also be interested in collaborating around the maintenance of the package/ add-on of functionalities. If this is something your team would consider, please feel free to reach out at [email protected] Best regards, |
Any plans to enable the program to edit the contents of PC-axis files?
