builds.archive.org server is not connecting

I am trying to download one of the builds as given by the readme. The links I could check are

• http://builds.archive.org/maven2/org/archive/heritrix/heritrix/3.4.0-SNAPSHOT/heritrix-3.4.0-SNAPSHOT-dist.zip
• http://builds.archive.org/maven2/org/archive/heritrix/heritrix/

At this time, none of this links are working. I am not sure that this is the right place to report this but if it isn't, please let me know where.

Many Internet Archive services including builds.archive.org are temporarily offline after a cyber attack. I don't have any information about when it will be back but they're posting general updates to their Twitter/X, Bluesky and Mastodon feeds.

There aren't many changes since the last release so I would recommend using that currently:

As builds.archive.org also host a jar file (javaswf) needed to compile the Heritrix source code that's unfortunately also currently affected unless you have the files cached from a previous build (or grab it from a previous release and use mvn install:install-file on it). I'm working on deploying a version of javaswf to maven central so that we can remove the dependency on the builds.archive.org repository for compiling Heritrix.

Thank you @ato for the information. I am scanning the repository for a heretrix build for the first time. I guess I will check back some other time. Do you think I should close the issue now or wait till the build can be downloaded?

I think we can leave this open as others will have the same question. I can close this later when builds.archive.org is up again. I've updated the Latest Releases section in the wiki to prioritize the releases over the snapshot master builds and also added a note about the builds.archive.org outage.
