Docs feedback: Frustrated! #516
Comments
@RoelWesthoff , I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. Could you provide more details? What were you trying to achieve? Which guides did you follow? |
Good evening Lucas,
Thanks for replying,
I’m totally new to Iota. At least the development part. Javascript.
I’ve invested in Iota years ago because I like the tech and it is European (I’m Dutch).
I’m using a more business oriented development environment called Dataflex. In short you can describe this environment as a Javascript-generator. A server-based (=as fast as Rust) that communicates with the client via a javascript engine. It has a one-stop-shop IDE that handle everything you need to create business oriented webapplications.
We have created applications in all sorts of businesses incl logistics. I’m one of the three teammembers that are responsible for the European logistical system Zespri (= producer of Kiwi-fruit). A large logistical system,
Fraude is a well know problem in logistics. This is the reason why I want incorporate Iota into these systems.
BUT,
The supplied examples keep failing. No clue why. Is it my lack of knowledge about Node.Js? Are the npm libraries failing because of incompatibility? Installing @Iota/wallet. Crash. Why? No clue. The naming conventions in Iota are also messy. Using names like Hornet, Shimmer, Shimmer EVM, Testnet, Devnet. Mixing Metamask en Firefly. Too much assumption that developers now what it all means.
For me this looks like chaos.
Roel

I'm totally new to IOTA. The level of assumptions for a newbee like me is stunning. It is like running around in a maze. Finding bits and pieces everywhere to eventually getting blocked by node errors that give absolutely no clue what is going on. [email protected]
