99 my Edison is bricked, or already has a distro on it that I can't get off.

If you're trying to re-flash an Edison that you've already installed, you may need to wipe it first using the instructions here:

Which boils down to connecting the Edison to your computer and deleting everything on the Edison.

If running sudo ./flashall.sh fails to flash anything you can try logging in as su and running without sudo
