What are the current thoughts, if any, about adding Pandoc-markdown-style citations in djot? Is this, in principle, a desired feature that hasn't been worked on yet? It seems like there could be a path to including citations using djot's raw inlines, spans, or inline attributes, rather than adding another feature to the language syntax for parsing BibTeX cite keys. Just curious to know if there is a general direction the project intends. Thanks! |

There's a long discussion on it at #32. In a nutshell, the "general direction" is to adopt the well-tested citation model and syntax in pandoc markdown to djot; not how to use more general djot structures. Also, minor clarification: the keys wouldn't be specific to BibTeX. |
