Describe the bug
If variableInspector is open in jupyter lab, the entire IDE becomes lagged as time passes. Selecting cells in your notebook, moving the cursor, typing, running, cells, scrolling your notebook, everything gets lagged. Restarting the kernel and clearing the notebook does NOT fix things, the IDE remains lagged until shutdown and re-opened.

If variableInspector is installed but not opened, the problem does not occur. It only occurs if variableInspector UI is open.

Expected behavior
No lag of IDE overtime due to variableInspector UI being open

Your Environment(please complete the following information):

  • OS (important): WSL2 (ubuntu)
  • Browser: firefox -- the only browser that renders the html properly for the variableInspector UI to work
  • Version of this extension you are using: jupyter lab 4.2.5, variableInspector 3.2.1
