kartoza/GeoServer crashes with Authkey Extension

We are having issues with kartoza/geoserver crashing when saving the default filter chain (using authkey module). As the logs do not show anything helpful (at least to us), we wondered whether it could be related to the docker environment? We have posted the question on stackexchange. Did anybody come across this before? Any hint is much appreciated!
