Since we already have a merger that composes the compendium by selecting single files of the manuals, could this not be extended further by selecting individual localizations for the manuals items body based on the language selected in the collection?
I was thinking something like this in the collection
In this way it should be possible to maintain the current structure and allow the localization of the individual objects that make up the manuals.
I was thinking of starting to do this in a separate fork but if it could be something interesting to bring in the original I could try to make the structure and then make a pull request when I can get it to work
