Specific years without ranges

It would be good to replace the bar for a dot when a specific date or year is given. The way it's done now is that a bar stretches for the year specified suggesting that event took the whole year, for example, the death of Russell in 1916 is a bar that stretches the who year of 1916.

That must have been a horrible death!
