Beta Release Plan

With the recent release of v1alpha2, we've been switching our focus to a beta release. It's hard to predict the future, but here's a high level look at what we're thinking about for a v1beta1 release.

New Experimental Features
As described in our Gateway API Versioning Plan, we're planning to provide a new "experimental" channel of CRDs in addition to a "stable" channel. New features will be added to the "experimental" channel, and may either graduate to "stable" or be removed altogether in future releases. As part of a v1beta1 release, we're hoping to add the following features to the experimental channel:

• Path redirects and rewrites
• IP and Port matching for L4 Routes
• Route delegation or inclusion

Conformance
A key part of reaching beta will be to have a solid conformance framework in place. We have some work in flight for this, and it will become an increasingly large focus as we approach v1beta1.

Timeline
At this point, we're hoping we could have a beta release ready as soon as January. There's a more detailed doc that outlines the kind of timeline we'd need to achieve that. I'll try to keep this thread updated as we get a clearer idea for when this will be ready.
