Build

You can also clone this repository and build Symly using the instructions below:

Pre-requisites

  • JDK 17

Packaging and running the application

The application can be built using the maven verify goal:

./mvnw clean verify

This will install the application locally in the ./target/assembly/symly-$VERSION-binary/. The application can be run using ./target/assembly/symly-$VERSION-binary/bin/symly <ARGS>.

$ ./build/install/symly/bin/symly
Usage: symly [-hvV] [COMMAND]
Symly creates, updates and removes links allowing for centralized management of
sparse file-trees.
-h, --help Prints this help message and exits
  -v, --verbose Be verbose.
  -V, --version Prints version information.
Commands:
link, ln Create/update/delete links from 'directory' to the 'repositories'.

Repositories should be specified with base layers first and
overriding layers next. In case two repositories contain a file
with the same path, the file in the latest repository will be
used as the target for the link for the given path
status, st Displays the current links' synchronization status
unlink Remove links in the 'directory' pointing to the 'repositories'.

Note this operation does not restore files in the destination. If
that is the desired behavior, use the 'restore' command instead.
