Add variable for new input in $personalFields

I want to add a variable to the personal field that I have created in $personalFields, the new field is the 'image' field, I created the variable so that after the image file is uploaded, the file will move to the web storage, what I want to ask is where to I put the variable I created so that the register function can accept the variable

sorry my bad, actually you can only use personal fields for string input only. or maybe @MGatner consider this issue as new feature?
a little tip from me : put the profile image inside the i.e. wizard page or in "complete your profile" condition
