Mapping Early American Elections: Data Cleaning

This repository contains scripts for cleaning the New Nation Votes data and joining it to spatial data.

Using this repository

  • To download all the data from NNV, run make setup, then make data.

All of the data downloaded to data-raw is licensed CC-0 and comes from the Lampi Collection of American Electoral Returns, 1788-1825, American Antiquarian Society, 2007, which is part of A New Nation Votes.
