how to use a pytest fixture?

i think it's best to keep them separate. in a test.py (to be executed by pytest) i imported the notebook, nb.py:

import pytest
@pytest.fixture
def nb():
    import nb
    _ = nb.app.run()
    _ = _[-1] # results mapping
    return _

this opens the door to nb regression testing (in one go).

anyone from the team wants to chime in?

Good question! We couldn't figure out to to expose a reasonable API, so we just have an undocumented work around while we try to think it through. There's an issue here tracking it:

The current "method" is that any variable with the name suffix _fixture is treated as a fixture that you can then override from tests.

But this has its issues. Let us know what your ideal API would be
