Extending and Populating Models in Medusa (e.g., customer)

Hi everyone,

I’m exploring ways to extend Medusa models, specifically the customer entity, to better suit my project needs. I’d like to:

• Add custom fields to the customer table
• Ensure these fields are easy to populate both programmatically and via the admin dashboard
• Maintain compatibility with future updates to Medusa
• What’s the best approach to achieve this? Are there any best practices or pitfalls to avoid when customizing and populating models in Medusa?

Look into building modules, then extend your fields using the Module Links and then use Widgets to extend the fields inside the UI or create clean UI inside the Admin
