My Issue/Suggestion

Be more specific where to store the .jar file and what the path then should be. Just putting the file in the userlib folder and change the path to /userlib/opentelemetry-javaagent.jar does not work

For running locally and when the .jar file is stored in the userlib folder, the path should be:
-javaagent:"full path to project folder\deployment\model\lib\userlib\opentelemetry-javaagent.jar" and add double quotes"

Not sure what the path should be when deploying to the Mendix Cloud

Thanks for reporting this issue and for following up with your research. I am in discussion with the developer about how they would like to document this.
I hope to get a resolution soon and will update you (and the documentation) when I have agreed the best information to include.

We have made an update to clarify things in #8986, We realized that what we wrote was unclear and could be misleading.
