First of all, I want to be sure you understand the goal of this message is not to complain, but to get ideas about getting better. meson is a fantastic projet, really open to contributions from anybody, and always willing to provide help.
However, as a developer, I realize that some PR I submit are handled very quickly, while other are waiting there forever, without apparent reason. I understand that you are all volunteers with limited time, but it would be great if I could have an idea whether my PR is prioritized or not, or if it was simply forgotten.
There were discussions some times ago about the use of milestones, and it didn't seem the right tool for that. Therefore, I'm wondering if there could be something else to track the status of open PRs. For example:
labels for triaged, prioritized, waiting for feedback, etc.
a project board to display what is in backlog, what is in development, etc.
The goal is not to put more pressure on core developers, but to give more visibility to contributors like me. A kind of roadmap or wishlist could also be a great thing.
