Since this library was published (2010), Google Sheets has added an API:

https://developers.google.com/google-apps/spreadsheets/

Also, there's the JavaScript API of Apps Script:

https://developers.google.com/apps-script/reference/spreadsheet/

There's also Google Apps Script:

Apps Script includes special APIs to let you programmatically create, read, and edit Google Sheets.
