I couldn't find a mailing list so I'm opening this issue to ask: What is holding back a first release of the COLA libraries? (specifically libavoid). Is it a code maturity/API stability issue (code is not ready to be released) or simply a manpower issue (everyone too busy to prepare a release)?
It would be great to have releases of these libraries in major distro repos, and possibly also pre-built Windows DLLs and a Mac bundle.
Thanks!

It's just a time and manpower issue. This will happen. We are going to have a 1.0 release, hopefully before the end of the year, or early next year. There will be a couple of API changes to libcola to add some ability to setup a pipeline for multiple layout processes.
In terms of libavoid specifically, it is considered stable and the API is not likely to change in the immediate future. The current repository version is in use by multiple commercial partners in shipping software.
